Krishnan Ezhuthachan Aided Lower Primary School (KEALPS), is an aided Lower Primary School established in 1892 by Sri. Krishnan Ezhuthachan, an eminent social activist and educational reformer in Kerala. Situated in Eeshwaramangalam, Ponnani, Malappuram, the school conducts classes from 1st to 4th standards. As the school progresses 122 years of existence, it has become a treasure chest of knowledge for the people of Eeshwaramangalam.
From an LP school which was about to be closed down being under the uneconomic list of schools with students below 100, KEALPS has come out a winner facing all difficulties and drawbacks. Today KEALPS has become the role model for other schools with more than 400 students, good infrastructure facilities and efficient teachers.
Focusing on the cultural and artistic development of children other than their academic activities the school has been able to attract many students to its fold. Along with this, the genuine efforts of the Parent Teacher Association and the school management to provide good infrastructure facilities has led to the school beating the victory trail over the years. The school has become a cut above others by following the path of discovering and encouraging young talents in the little minds of kids and making circumstances available which will lead to the nourishment.
History
The education sector of Ponnani owes a lot to the efforts of Sri. Krishnan Ezhuthachan - an educational reformer of repute who established the Krishnan Ezhuthachan Aided Lower Primary School (KEALPS) back in 1892 at Eeshwaramangalam, Ponnani, Kerala. He started the school with the sole objective of education for everyone and that no one should remain illiterate.
Started on humble beginnings as a small school with a single teacher, the school later on became the alma mater for many villagers. Many students of Sri. Krishnan Ezhuthachan later on became famous personalities in different walks of life. In the course of time, the school was renovated and upgraded into a lower primary aided school.
Many strategic changes took place in the development of the school since 1974 when Sri. K. Damodaran Nair became the Manager of the school. After his tenure, in 2007, Sri. Suresh Karat took over as Manager and he has been responsible for many developmental changes that lead to the present stature of the school. By his relentless efforts, enthusiasm and dedicated service he could bring about progress in the varied fields of curricular as well as extra - curricular activities in the school. He implemented many structural changes by joining hands with the teachers, parents and the students to work towards a common goal – the overall progress of the school in all spheres.
